Media Expert has signed two leases for its stores in two retail parks under construction: Cydr in Radzionków and Zgoda in Świętochłowice. Cushman & Wakefield, a global real estate services firm, represented the investor Budecon in negotiations with the tenant.
Retail Park Cydr in Radzionków will be located in immediate vicinity of a Biedronka store, near the junction of Unii Europejskiej and Szymały streets. Upon completion it will total 4,000 sq m of leasable space, housing fashion, footwear, sports, health and beauty stores, a travel agency and a pet shop. A car park to be constructed near the retail park will provide around 300 parking spaces. Media Expert’s store with consumer electronics will take up 650 sq m. Cydr is scheduled to open in Q4 2016.
Retail Park Zgoda is being developed on the border of Świętochłowice and Ruda Śląska, between Śląska and Tunkla streets, in immediate vicinity of a Biedronka store. It will provide 2,000 sq m and in addition to Media Expert’s 560 sq m store it will also offer fashion, footwear, and health and beauty stores. Its car park will provide around 130 parking spaces. BUDECON, the investor of the retail park, has also altered the road network in the immediate vicinity of the retail park by financing the construction of a roundabout and renewal of pavements and lighting. Zgoda is scheduled to open this coming November.
“BUDECON has more than 20 years of experience in the construction business, specializing in development of retail, service and manufacturing buildings. In response to market requirements we decided to build our own brand of retail schemes with the B7 logo, the first being the retail parks Cydr in Radzionków and Zgoda in Świętochłowice. We chose their locations carefully to ensure easy access by customers coming both on foot and by car. These locations are also appealing to tenants. Our objective was to build retail parks with a recognizable logo and attracting local entrepreneurs and well-known brands such as Media Expert,” said Zygmunt Pucharski, President of BUDECON S.A.
With more than 360 stores in nearly 310 cities across the country, Media Expert is the largest consumer electronics retailer in Poland. It has operated on the market since 2002, offering the latest in electronics and household appliances, laptops, tablets, smartphones and photographic equipment. Selected stores also offer bicycles, scooters, quad bikes, power tools, leisure equipment and garden implements.
“We are confident that the two developments will become major regional cultural and retail centres with a great sales potential. The two schemes also benefit from excellent transport links and attractive locations. They are distinctive and customer-friendly. Media Expert, the leading electronics retailer in Poland, simply must be there,” said Michał Mystkowski, Media Expert’s spokesman.
“The new retail park Cydr in Radzionków will be an attractive place for the city’s inhabitants to do quick shopping. The retail park Zgoda in Świętochłowice will improve the comfort of the city’s residents both as regards transport and access to a large retail offer,” said Tomasz Lipiński, a negotiator from the Retail Department of Cushman & Wakefield.
BUDECON S.A., a construction and engineering company, is the investor of the retail parks Zgoda and Cydr. Cushman & Wakefield, a global real estate services firm, is responsible for the commercialization of the parks.
